HARFORD COUNTY, MD — An avid scratch-off ticket player from Harford County recently won $57,777 after playing the games with her mom for years.
The big winner, who used the alias “Hawks” when claiming her winnings at Maryland Lottery headquarters, said she has a tradition of getting together with her mother one morning a week to play scratch-offs.
They were stunned when they came across the Triple Red 7s Tripler scratch-off ticket that had a 7 autowin symbol with a prize of $57,777. “Hawks” said she couldn't believe her eyes.
“We were shocked. We didn’t believe what it said,” she told lottery officials.
To verify her prize, “Hawks” scanned the ticket and received the “Go to Lottery” message. She still couldn't believe it was real because she had many non-winning tickets over the years. The woman said she plans to use her prize to pay off debt.
